Much like Persia Rising, this mod seeks to make Brazil feel like its own unique experience rather than just add a new National Focus tree. In the meantime, we still have to deal with the generic template, but at least there's a lot more to work with, giving players the added edge they need to conquer the New World — or assert itself as the. I am making a hoi4 mod that is quite large. Would you mind if I used your generic focus tree for the generic focus tree of my mod? I'll have to tweak it but I'd love to use your focus tree. Of course I will give credit and add you as a contributor if you so wish.

Hoi4 Generic Focus Tree Guide
These awesome people help keep this site alive
I've been taking a short break from scripting already planned out focus trees to devote some time to going over trees already planned and making changes, as well as finishing the trees left unplanned. Before yesterday, that included America, Britain, France, and perhaps Poland, Japan, and China. However, the American tree is now complete, lowering the number of unplanned trees by one more.
America's ideology mechanics work a little differently than most countries'. Similar to other presidential republics, the United States receives a presidential election event every four years, where the player will have the opportunity to choose between a Democratic (center-left) or Republican (center-right) government. For now, the only thing set in stone is that having Democratic governments during times of hardship (such as the Great Depression) will push people to the right, into Fascist organizations, and having Republican governments will push people the left, into Communist organizations. I'd like to add more depth to the election mechanic than just that, but for the purposes of the focus tree, that is the most important part of it.
Should the economic depression that is scripted to hit in the late '20s or early '30s get bad enough and Communist or Fascist popularity get too high, one of two events can occur: Free wmv player for mac.
Communist Revolution:
Should Communist popularity get too high, this event can hit in the 1930s, triggering a civil war in the United States between pro-Communist forces in the Far West, New England, and parts of the Midwest, and pro-capitalist forces in the rest of the country.

Fascist Coup:
Should Fascist popularity get too high, this event can also be triggered. Politicians and businessmen convince the military to launch a coup and install one of their own generals as a military dictator, leading to a Spanish-Civil-War-esque conflict between pro-Fascist forces in much of the East Coast and Midwest and pro-capitalist forces everywhere else.
The capitalist, communist, and fascist USAs are all different tags with their own focus trees, which are laid out such:
Capitalist Tree:
The player has three choices to make: how to handle foreign policy, how to handle economic policy, and how to further develop the military. They may choose to be isolationist, facilitating further industrial development and leading to the ability to create their own faction, or to be more interventionist, leading to the ability to export American influence overseas by force and to join the Allies. The economic choices the player makes are a bit less consequential for how the American player acts, as they simply change how soon the Depression hits and what the public response is to it. Finally, the player must choose between focusing on the Army, Navy, Air Force, or scientific research. They are all mutually exclusive from one another, but the bonuses are substantial enough that choosing any one gives you a significant advantage over the equivalent branch of your enemy's military.
Communist Tree:
The Communist American tree is quite similar to the trees of other Communist Great Powers. The player may choose to take a more authoritarian or libertarian approach to securing socialism in the country, potentially aligning it with either Soviet Russia or Spartacist Germany, depending on how European history played out in the late 1910s. The player, however, always has the opportunity to create their own faction and strike it out on their own to build Communism po-amerikanski. The player may also choose between establishing a planned economy to develop industry or taking a more conservative path and sticking with state-capitalism temporarily, and between spreading Communism to the larger American nations before taking out the smaller but more numerous capitalist nations on the continent or spreading Communism to the smaller nations before launching joint invasions on the larger but fewer capitalist nations. Communist America also gets the same military branch that Capitalist America gets.
Fascist Tree:
The first two branches of this tree, political and economic, focus mostly on the consolidation of control in the country, leaving relatively few choices to be made (though that may change in the future). The real choices that Fascist America must make is in the military branch that it shares with the two other American tags, as well as in the expansion tree. Historically, the United States has always been looking to expand its borders further and further. In real life, we managed to push our borders as far west as possible, but never really extended them north or south. That wasn't for lack of trying, though: from our independence up until the early 1900s or so, there were plans to invade and annex either Canada and the rest of the north, or push down into Mexico, the Carribean, and Central America. The player will be able to make that choice for themselves, gaining claims either on the north or the south depending on which sub-branch they pick.
Generic Focus Tree Hoi4 Mod
That's all I have to share on the American tree for now. I expect that the French tree will come next, though I won't make any promises. I've also resolved to try to recycle more generic focuses (such as the 'state-capitalism' branches for communist nations, for example) a bit more while preserving the individual character of each nation and leaving open a variety of possibilities for the player to maximize replayability. Hopefully, this will speed up the scripting of focus trees significantly while not watering down the quality of the trees in the process. I also don't expect any serious time sinks to pop up over the next two weeks or so, so I'll be able to devote more time to this project than I have been.

I'm very much excited with how this project is shaping up and appreciate the emails of support you all send me! It really keeps me devoted to this project even through the times when I've considered shelving it, so the continued development of this mod is in no small part due to you. Thanks!
